How It All Came To Be:
I always find it fascinating how people find their way into their careers. Some people seem to know what they want from a young age and others seem to drift into just the right spot. Kimberly Greenwell was kind enough to share her story with me of how she became a home TV show host.
How A Passion for Dream Homes Lead to My Southern Home Television Show
“My Southern Home” television host, Kimberly Greenwell, wasn’t always in front of the camera. Kimberly spent most of her career helping companies with television advertising and public relations.
One snowy day in December of 2014, Kimberly got a phone call that would change her life forever. A television station in Louisville, Kentucky called to ask if she would be interested in producing and hosting a local home show.
“I will never forget that moment. I remember everything about it. It had just started snowing and I was at a stoplight. Big, fluffy snowflakes were all around me, and I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It has been five years now, and it still hard to believe. One phone call changed my life in ways I could never imagine,” said Kimberly.
At the time, Kimberly was the publicist for the Home, Garden, and Remodeling Show and Homearama, which is an annual Louisville event that showcases custom built new state of the art houses. Her love of homes, expertise on home-related topics, and on-camera experience made her a perfect fit for the show. “Your Kentuckiana Home” launched in April 2015.

Then, in 2017, she decided to produce her own show called “My Southern Home.” According to Kimberly, “I decided to launch my own show for several reasons; the main one was I felt a need to do more, to help more. There was so much we weren’t covering, and creatively my hands were tied. It was scary, but I knew it was time to go out on my own.”
A few days before her first show debuted, Vinny Barber, with the Barber Cabinet Company, called and asked if Kimberly could bring the show to Nashville, Tennessee.
One year later, Saturday, August 4, 2018, “My Southern Home” launched in Nashville on MYTV 30. Now with ten seasons behind her, Kimberly helps homeowners in Louisville, KY, and Middle Tennessee build or create their dream home by introducing them to home-related experts.
